Rwenzori Mountains National Park

This “Mountains of the moon ” Park is characterized by a variety of montane habitats. Birds found in this area are similar to those found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park including the Albertine Rift Endemics (AREs) since they share the same ecological zone.

Key Species include; the Rwenzori Turaco, Handsome Francolin, Dwarf Honeyguide, Archer’s Robin-Chat, Red-throated Alethe, Kivu Ground Thrush, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Montane Masked and Collared Apalises Others species of importance include; Red-thighed Sparrowhawk, Barred Long-tailed Cuckoo, western Green Tinkerbird, Olive Woodpecker, Grey Chested Illadopsis, Grey-winged Robin, Evergreen Forest and Bamboo Warblers, Montane Sooty Boubou, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Montane Masked and Collared Apalises, Stripe-breasted Tit, Rwenzori Batis, Blue-headed, Regal and Purple-breasted Sunbirds, Strange weaver, Dusky and Shelley’s Crimsonwing.
